Cords cause more than 3,300 residential fires a year which, these fires cause an estimated 50 deaths and 270 injuries a year. The following are ways you can prevent these fires:

Ensure cords are plugged in properly to outlets/extension cords

Don't overload extension cords, for example by plugging in an additional extension cord to the existing one

Before use make sure cords are not damaged and are meant for the device in use

Do not plug a cord in an outlet that it is not intended for, for example don't plug a three pronged plug into and two pronged plug outlet
